Essentially, assuming John knew these passages, he's being asked to trust Jesus is who he says he is EVEN IF he himself is not released, even if his heart's desires and prayers are not granted. I think we all often live in that tension - being asked to trust in God even when we don't understand what he is doing and why. Prayers for you and all of us as we grow in trust and faith that one day ALL of these promises will be fulfilled completely.
